Royal Park Hotel

INTRODUCTION

The magic of Nepal awaiting every traveller lies in its full glory of lush jungles, between the rugged snow peaks of the majestic Himalayas and the endless variety of colourful wildlife and mighty rivers.

Those visiting Nepal look for this kaleidoscope of living colour and find the Rapti River in Southern Nepal , on whose banks you find the Royal Park Hotel. Beyond the river every hotel guest can view a brilliant display of nature on parade, crowned by unforgettable sunset over the famous Chitwan National Park.

The tiger still lives here among the lush flora of the Rapti's marshlands with the last remaining great one horned rhinoceros, the home of some of the world's most exotic birds and the slumbering crocodile. Everywhere you look an incomparable feast for the eyes awaits you.

The accommodation at the Royal Park Hotel is perfect for everyone wanting to enjoy nature in peace and the own leisure. The hotel rooms are built in Nepalese style with all Western comforts, reminding you of casual and roomy ambience of the safari hotel. Our guests are always surrounded by the beauty of the region as panoramic windows have been installed in all our hotel houses for spectacular views.

A terrace bar with a deck over the river's banks allows for a view of the animals watering holes. Tending the main restaurant, bar and garden restaurant our staff at the Royal Park Hotel complete the atmosphere with candle lights and lanterns. With a variety of superb Indian and Nepalese dishes to choose from, we will ensure you experience in culinary at its best. Our chef de cuisine spent several years serving in diplomatic circles and completes the menu with excellent European cuisine. In addition, for those who prefer the classic continental breakfast our on-premise "German Bakery" will treat your every morning with fresh breakfast rolls and other baked delicacies.

The Royal Park Hotel is an excellent starting point for excursions and safaris. Multilingual guides lead the way for trips and treks into the jungle and the grassland beyond. We also offer slide shows about the land and its natural treasures as well as a selection of books and videos for those seeking more comprehensive information. Your stay at the Royal Park Hotel with an exciting ride on the back of an elephant or a boat ride on the Rapti River in the middle of the exotic Chitwan National Park is simply an unforgettable experience.

Duration : 1 to 1/2 hours
Start: 7:30 & 3:30 pm

Guided Village Tour
The last remaining Tharu settlement inside the boundary of the park is well worth a visit. An ox-cart can take you or you can walk the 6km. through the park area. The Tharu are the indigenous people of the Chitwan valley. Prior to the USAID sponsored malaria eradication campaign in the fifties, for twelve hundred years they were the only people able to live in the heavily forested Terai belt, due to their resistance to malaria. Their way of life differs widely from that of the immigrants from the hills and remains the same today as it was hundred years ago. The village is going to be relocated in the coming years due to increasing pressure from UNESCO and WWF, as Chitwan National Park has now been declared a world nature heritage side.
Duration : 3 hours

Jungle Walk
Jungle walk is one of the most exciting adventures activities which can be easily made within park. It gives real inner feeling of the nature. It provides an opportunity to inhanse widely renewed and great one-horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal Tiger, Elegant Deer, Sloth Beer, Beautiful Color Birds and many more.

Jeep Safari
There are licensed jeeps to enter the Park. The drive will lead you to various interesting points in the jungle as well as to the crocodile conservation project at Kasara where the park headquarters is situated. USAID & IUCN Nepal created this project in 1978 in order to preserve, hatch and reintroduce Gharials and mugger crocodiles into Nepal . The trip will also take you to Tamor Tal and Lami Tal, two lakes famous for crocodiles and bird watching.
Duration : 3-4 hours
Starts: 7:00 am & 1:30 pm.

Bicycle Tour
This is a 30 km round trip, 4 km of which are on paved road. The main aim is to see Bis Hazar Tal or Twenty Thousand Lakes. As the name implies this area has many small lakes or Tal where the water collects in the dry season. These provide the best available habital for crocodiles and many species of birds. The journey takes you through settlements and cultivated land of the Tharu and Tamang people, but the majority of the ride is through forests. Duration: 1/2 day. Overnight Stay.

The Department of Chitwan National Park has recently decided to give a limited number of permits for overnight stays inside the park boundaries. You can camp up to two nights and we can provide you a cook, porters and additional staff plus all equipment needed to your wishes.

"Although Nepal covers only a fraction of one percent of the earth's land mass, it contains about a tenth of the world's known birds and of these more than half are to be found within the national park" (GURUNG, K.K., 1983, "Hear of the jungle", Andre Deutsch Ltd., London, P.106).
Duration : one and half hours to half a day.
